L7 Classroom Policy

:: Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance and parameters for the scheduling and use of the L7 classroom. The L7 classroom is intended primarily for instruction and training sponsored by staff at the Library and LTS.  Other York College staff and faculty may request to use the classroom for specialized instruction or training anytime during the year.  The L7 classroom may be available for other educational teaching, meeting, training, or presentations by persons/groups of the York College community.

Please note that:

  • The classroom is not available for semester-long courses.
  • Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis for use by YCP schools, departments, student groups, etc.
  • Use by non-college groups will be under the discretion of LTS.

:: Equipment

  • Seating capacity is 30 with movable chairs and tables
  • One stationary instructor workstation, includes mounted instructor PC/monitor, Blue Ray player, and laptop connection and sound system.
  • Two group study areas with wall laptop connections and monitor
  • Two movable whiteboards
  • One laptop cart with 10 laptops for classroom use ONLY

:: Scheduling the classroom

L7 may not be reserved as the primary classroom for courses or for semester-long activities.

Food is allowed but please take proper care of the room, report spills and any food related accidents to the LTS Help Desk. A weekly reservation schedule is posted outside the door of the classroom

  • Primarily available for Library/LTS classroom instruction, workshops, webinars, meetings, training and demonstrations.
  • Available for specialized research classes, workshops, small group presentations or collaborative projects, or meetings for the YCP schools, administration, and staff. Students cannot schedule the classroom
  • L7 will be reserved exclusively as open lab space for students during finals time.  
  • Scheduling is done through 25Live and ALL scheduling is approved by the Director of Information Literacy, or designee.
  • The classroom will only be available for use while the library is open.

:: Classroom Usage

  • All library policies must be followed while using the classroom. Meetings and events must be conducted so as not to disturb library activities in surrounding areas.
  • To access technology, please see the instructions located on the instructor podium. You MUST make sure all equipment is turned off and you log off the instructor station before leaving the classroom.
  • Please do NOT move the instructor’s podium. 
  • It is the responsibility of the reserving party for setup and cleanup of the room, and ensuring that the room is returned to its original condition including replacing furniture, cleaning tables and whiteboards, and disposing of all food and beverages in waste containers.
  • LTS is not responsible for damage or loss of any personal property or other items left in the room.
  • If you encounter any problems with the room, please see the staff at the Help Desk who will contact the appropriate person to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
  • The reserving party must vacate the room at the end of the reserved time. If additional time is needed to setup and/or restore the room to its original setup, this time should be considered when reserving the room.
  • LTS reserves the right to decline reservation requests if expected room occupancy is not compatible with classroom capacity.
  • Markers and erasers are provided but please clean all whiteboards after your session is over; cleaning products are provided.
