Some websites have online tools that will allow you to format citations:
MLA is the most common citation format for research in the humanities, such as literature, media studies, languages, and cultural studies. However, it is also used in a number of other classes as well.
APA style is most often used for creating citations and reports in the fields of behavioral sciences, social sciences, and education. However, it is frequently used in other subjects and classes as well.
APSA style is is most commonly used in the field of political science.
The Chicago Manual of style is most often used for citations in business, history, and the fine arts. However, other classes and fields may use it as well.
Turabain is a form of Chicago Manual of Style meant specifically for use by college and high school students who are writing papers, theses, and dissertations that are not intended for publication. If your professor asks you to use Chicago style for your research, ask which kind you need.
Legal citations are used by lawyers, politicians, judges, as well as other individuals involved in criminal justice or politics. It is used to reference laws and legal decisions.
