A non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more. Requires setting up a free account.

Library of Congress National Screening Room Historic, digitized motion pictures from the Library of Congress (LC) collections. Includes fiction, non-fiction, and home movies covering 1890-1999. Most of the content is in the public domain. Movies that LC believes to be public domain are fully downloadable. Permissions were granted for the inclusion of copyrighted motion pictures, which are only available as streaming files. New content is being added every month.

Netflix

Netflix Personal streaming vendors such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu do not grant rights for institutional or educational use. That means faculty may not show videos from these services in class. This is why the Library offers streaming videos through institutional subscription vendors like Academic Video Online. Netflix makes an exception for a small number of Original documentaries, which do grant permission for one-time educational screenings. Use this link to find out which titles are available for educational use. You must have a personal Netflix account in order to show these titles. Always double check the details page for each title before showing in the classroom to ensure that the Grant of Permission is still applicable.
