Chat with a Librarian

Need help with research? Citations a jumble? Don't know where to start?

Finding reliable and useful information can be difficult, but you don't have to do it all alone. Chat with a librarian below to ask questions or schedule an appointment. We'll help you find sources you can trust and guide you through the research process from narrowing your topic to searching for sources to crafting citations.

Local chat is available during walk-in research help hours, but you can email us any time or chat 24/7 with one of our global partners!

Fixing Common Database Issues

If you’re having trouble accessing a database or article from off campus, there are a few steps you will want to take to help diagnose and correct the problem:

  1. Log into MyYCP
  2. Search for the title of your source in Summon.
  3. Switch browsers (Chrome and Firefox work best)
  4. Make sure the URL for your link begins with "" (without quotes).
  5. If you are on a public network (such as at a coffee shop, airport, or employer's wifi), there is a known, common conflict between public networks and library proxies. Try switching to cellular data or continuing research from at home. If you need immediate access to a source before then, contact us for assistance.
