APA - American Psychological Association

APA Format

APA style is most often used for creating citations and reports in the fields of behavioral sciences, social sciences, and education. However, it is frequently used in other subjects and classes as well.

MLA - Modern Language Association

MLA Format

MLA is the most common citation format for research in the humanities, such as literature, media studies, languages, and cultural studies. However, it is also used in a number of other classes as well.

Chicago/Turabian

Chicago

The Chicago Manual of style is most often used for citations in business, history, and the fine arts. However, other classes and fields may use it as well.

Turabian

Turabian is a form of Chicago Manual of Style meant specifically for use by college and high school students who are writing papers, theses, and dissertations that are not intended for publication. If your professor asks you to use Chicago style for your research, ask which kind you need.

CSE

CSE

The Council of Science Editors (CSE) in Scientific Style and Format, sometimes known as the “CSE style manual”. In addition to providing formatting rules, it serves as a guideline for consistency among references and their in-text citations.

ACS - American Chemical Society

ACS

The official style guide from the American Chemical Society covers styles for everything from poster presentations, organizing research articles, to the standards for visualizing chemical compounds and reactions.

APSA - American Political Science Association

APSA

APSA style is is most commonly used in the field of political science.

Legal citations are used by lawyers, politicians, judges, as well as other individuals involved in criminal justice or politics. It is used to reference laws and legal decisions.

IEEE

IEEE

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) style for formatting research papers and citing sources is widely used among all branches of engineering, computer science, and other technological fields.
